Job Description Summary

Dauch is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Co-Op to join our team at the Detroit Business Office. The HR Co-op will support the HR team in delivering strategic and operational human resources services within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, HR analytics, training and development, onboarding, engagement initiatives, and compliance activities. The co-op will gain exposure to various aspects of Human Resources while supporting business objectives and employee experience initiatives at Dauch.

The ideal Human Resources Co-Op is a highly motivated and detail-oriented student who is passionate about developing a career in Human Resources within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual demonstrates strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with both hourly and salaried employees. They are eager to learn, take initiative, and contribute to creating an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

Job Description:

  • Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy within HR systems.
  • Assist with personnel transactions, organizational changes, and reporting.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and workforce analytics.
  • Support policy administration and compliance documentation.
  • Support employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and culture initiatives.
  • Assist with employee communications and HR presentations.
  • Help coordinate employee events, wellness programs, and community involvement activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information.
  • Support compliance efforts related to employment laws, company policies, and internal audits.
  • Assist with HR process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects involving workforce planning, retention, and employee development.
  • Support inclusion & culture initiatives as applicable.
  • Assist with recruiting activities including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding activities and orientation programs.
  • Support pre-employment processes including background checks and new hire documentation.
  • Participate in recruiting events, career fairs, and community outreach initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum sophomore class standing.
  • Available to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, year-round.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous internship, co-op, customer service, leadership, or campus involvement experience.
