Compact Press Operator

Job Description Summary

Perform a variety of routine and technical production tasks following prescribed methods and procedures with little or no supervision. Provide guidance and training to lower skilled personnel. Maintain work, product and process flow for designated area.

Job Description:

• Under close supervision and instruction of a higher level Compact Sinter Technician to gain basic knowledge on adjusting production equipment on routine, repetitive jobs.
• Ability to read and follow detailed instructions on routine tasks. Perform basic mathematical computations using decimals and fractions. Legible penmanship and accurate completion of reports, charts, and other documents.
• Ability to properly read and interpret blueprints and drawings
• Organizational skills are needed to maintain work area and set priorities according to daily production requirements.  Understanding of visual management and effective on processes.
• Have basic mechanical aptitude and be able to operate basic hand tools and surface grinding equipment.
• Understand powder metallurgy process along with basic knowledge of product processing and compact / coining tooling such as fit, form and function.
• Maintain a safe working area to ensure the safety of self and other team members, with ability to identify potential safety and environmental hazards and communicate immediately to Leaders.

Required Skills and Education

• High School or equivalent education
• Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision
