Job Description Summary

The Labor Relations Manager is responsible for shaping and maintaining positive labor relations between the organization and its employees, including unionized workers where applicable. This role involves developing effective strategies for collective bargaining, conflict resolution, and compliance with labor laws, while providing strategic guidance to senior management and leadership. The Labor relations manager also provides advice and counsel on workplace issues, including disciplinary actions, reasonable accommodations, changes in the federal and state employment laws, employment policies, layoffs, trainings, and workplace investigations.

Job Description:

Ensuring harmonious IR relations with employees & union

  • Monitoring grievances being raised and solving them as quickly as possible.
  • Institutionalizing an open and transparent grievance handling system & maintaining discipline in the plant. 
  • Identify needs / problems of employees through formal / informal channels
  • Support negotiations with unions, identifying issues, mitigate, and maintaining rapport with union.
  • Planning and developing cases with legal advisor.

Ensure statutory compliances & welfare initiatives

  • Ensuring strict adherence to statutory laws & liaison with government authorities.
  • Comply with Statutory systems like IATF etc.

Ensure effective Administrative & facility management.

  • Effective management of facilities, Canteen, Housekeeping, gardening, company hired transport, employee transport & in-house pool vehicles.
  • Ensure the strict functioning of security & ensure applicable compliances under EHS.
  • Verification & of Canteen, Security, Transport, Contractors bill & Housekeeping bills.
  • Co-ordination of Safety Committee, marriage gifts, housekeeping, farewell and machine
  • Coordinating various company social / religious events.
  • Identify gaps in services provide by administration through periodic surveys, recommend responses
  • Effective management of agency workmen

Ensuring labour compliances in plant:

  • Coordinating with company legal advisors and advocates on timely basis.
  • Preparing and maintaining agreements and contracts within the timeline
  • Liasioning with government officials regarding labor compliances
  • Handling court cases and matters as and when required
  • Lead, with HR support, people resourcing, engagement and management activity for the function

Required Skills and Education

MBA/MPM/PGDBM in HR with 12-15 years’ experience. Full-Time Management degree from reputed institution is preferred.

Should be a certified Welfare Officer from DISH ( Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health)

  • Strong knowledge in HR & IR Processes

  • Good Communication & Presentation skills.
