Job Description Summary

Dauch is looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team in Newton, NC. This is a fully onsite role.

The Advanced ME Manager will provide first level day-to-day administrative and technical leadership for a staff of professional engineers and technicians within the manufacturing engineering and program launch department, to accomplish specific engineering projects. They are responsible for the results of the department's efforts and for the effectiveness of their overall integration with other departments.

Job Description:

  • Benchmarks manufacturing processes with other Dauch sites and ensures that relevant plans are in place to close gaps.

  • Manages and leads capex requirements for Newton, ensuring that local budgets are in line with divisional requirements. Plans and track capex spending and communicate status and phasing.

  • Works with purchasing to ensure all equipment ordered (including spare parts) is compliant with divisional specifications and safety standards.

  • Ensures that all systems relating to manufacturing engineering are up to date and appropriate for the business needs and Dauch requirements.

  • Ensures core process compliancy for site’s key processes (ex. hardening, welding, assembly, etc.).

  • Leads BPE (Business Process Excellence) projects to improve systems.

  • Consolidates all OGS budgets and track each area for compliance and improvements.

  • Provides a consolidated view of demand/capacity at plant level for the next five years, ensuring that actual vs target is clear and with relevant improvement activities.

  • Compares customer data to iDash and manage any exceptions.

  • Responds to MS Divisional requirements with regard to - Capacity analysis, investment/capex requirements and other ad hoc requests.

  • Collaborates with Supply Chain and Commercial functions to ensure SIOP and MPS are carried out for Capacity Management.

  • Leads the facilities maintenance team to adhere to plant needs and those that are aligned with industrialization.

  • Leads implementation of industrial solutions to improve pp2.

  • Supports NBA with process cost per part and investment and tooling cost requirements.

  • Establish standard process and cycle times at SOP. Ensures process delivers target performance at SOP.

  • Hands over MS deliverables at SOP; operator work instructions, PFMEA, stage-drawings, PPM etc.).

  • Leads process-related CIMS projects

  • Provides input into the VA/VE system.

  • Supports problem solving activities.

  • Actively encourages the participation of all engineers in identifying and realizing improvement opportunities.

  • Manages engineering team and ensures work follows divisional process, procedure and standards.

  • Develops a diverse and inclusive team aligned to GKN philosophy.

  • Motivates team by setting challenging and achievable goals. Communicates business strategy and updates team on the roadmap to excellence.

  • Creates a culture of Engagement where all associates have the tools they need to do their job well and have the opportunity to contribute to improvement through associate involvement.

  • Leads plant level NVH activities to include vehicle correlation, rig test limits and monitoring.

  • Ensures plant level ECU software related to assembly/test production meets Dauch and customer requirements.

  • Ensures prototype parts are produced to support current and future programs.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other relevant field.

  • 8+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering Leadership role, preferably in the automotive industry.

  • Experience with capex planning and tracking.

  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and control plans.

  • Knowledge of automation, robotics, PLCs, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to approximately 25%.
