Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift

Job Description Summary

Dauch is looking for an Engineering Technician to join our team in Royal Oak, Michigan. This is a fully onsite role on the 2nd shift.

The Engineering Technician leads the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing. Applications are broad and varied, requiring inclusion of technical and business context, and solving of non-routine problems.

Job Description:

• Maintains, repairs, installs, replaces, or rebuilds a diverse range of industrial manufacturing equipment and systems.
• Programs, modifies, and troubleshoots PLCs, with hands-on experience in ladder logic, Rockwell Automation software, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and production machinery components.
• Supports the reliable operation of production machines and related equipment.
• Troubleshoots, tests, repairs, and calibrates various types of electrical, electronic, and induction heating equipment.
• Handles maintenance and repair of electrical systems for both facility and production equipment, including wiring in accordance with code.
• Safely operates the articulated boom and scissor lift, ascends stairs, and works on elevated mezzanines.
• Evaluates control systems, products, components, and applications.
• Evaluates new manufacturing and control technologies, adapting into specifications as appropriate.
• Confirms control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.
• Prepares and/or reviews electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
• Ensures integrity of process and build data collection.
• Provides information to manufacturing, process, and other engineering disciplines by answering questions and requests.
• Keeps equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
• Maintains project documents using approved methodology, tools, and templates.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably as an industrial electrician or controls technician.
• Experience working in a union manufacturing environment within the automotive industry preferred.
